The Smith family is sad to announce the passing of a loved one.

Taterman Was born in Sylvester, Georgia on August 24, 1954. He was the 4th oldest of 13 children born to Elzie Smith, Sr. and Gladys A. Smith, who preceded him in death). James graduated from Worth County High School in 1973. James’s belief in Christ helped to sustain him during his times of illness in the final years of his life. James was formerly employed with Gauf Plumbing and Electrical Company and did various plumbing jobs until he became disabled. Preceding James in death were 3 brothers: Wendell (Dink) Smith, Willie Smith, and Terry Smith; also his wife, Charlotte Hines. James will forever be missed by those who loved and cherished him. He leaves behind 2 sons: Jimmy Hamilton of Sylvester and Alexander Hines of North Carolina; 8 grandchildren, 6 sisters: Renell Jackson, Donnell Smith, Eva Smith, Annie Louise Smith, Linda Smith and Pebble Burrows (Ivey) all of Sylvester, Ga; 4 brothers: Elzie Smith, Jr. of Clearwater, FL, Johnny Mack Smith (Annie), John L. Smith and Joe Nathan Smith (Yalonda) of Sylvester, GA 2 aunts Eva Mae Royal, and Minnie L. Hill ; a host of nieces , nephews, cousins, friends, and a very special friend: Betty Walker.
