The Walker family is sad to announce the passing of a loved one.

Clemmie T. Walker was born in Bryan County, Georgia on March 5, 1939 to the late Ellison Byrd and Corine Walker. Clemmie attended the Toombs County Center over 25 years where she learned and was trained to do many home and personal tasks. Clemmie’s churches of choice were St. Paul Baptist and Holy Ghost Assembly in Lyons GA. When Clemmie was not attending the Center she loved being at home watching her old Westerns on TV, listening to her radio and holding her baby doll of her choice for the day. She loved her dolls. When visitors or family would stop by the house Clemmie made sure before they left to tell them, “come back and see me some more.” Clemmie’s health started to fail in July 2016 when she took a fall breaking her back. She was unable to withstand surgery and needed care 24 hours and was admitted into a nursing facility. On Sunday, January 6, 2019, she departed this earthly life as she entered into eternal rest. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her guardian/cousin, Beatrice Faison; one brother, Wade Byrd; five sisters, Evelyn Joiner, Lucille Byrd, Martha Jackson, Mary Haskell and Thelma Byrd. Precious memories will remain in the hearts of her POA and caregiver, Norma Faison-Chambliss of Riverdale GA; first Cousin, Carolyn M. Bowen of Leesburg Fl; nieces and nephews (Joiner and Byrd children); cousins, (McLeod, Faison, Hayward and Chambliss children) and a host of other relatives and friends.
