Obituary For Ronie Berry

The Berry Family is sad to announce the passing of a loved one.

Ronie Mae Brown-Thomas, later Berry, was born on October 3, 1942 in Worth County, Georgia to the parentage of Ell Brown and Ruby Stewart-Brown. She attended the segregated public schools of Worth County. She spent her early life with her husband and children in Worth County, Georgia and later relocated to the adjacent Tift County. In Tifton, she found employment with Holiday Inn and its restaurant. She also resided, for a brief period, among family members in St. Petersburg, FL. To seek spiritual growth, she joined and became an active member of the Church of Christ located on Short Street in Tifton. At a mature age with failing health, she took residence at Southwell Health and Rehabilitation Center in Adel, Georgia. She often took time to play Old Maid with her children, younger brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Old Maid was a constant favorite with children and lots of fun for the family playing cards together. Ronie Mae was preceded in death by her husband Freddie Berry, two sisters: Katie Lou Thomas and Ruby Dean Brown; two brothers: James Brown, Jr. and Lester Brown; one sister-in-law: Katie Mae Brown She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters: Earnestine Brown of Moultrie, GA and Mary Lou Thomas of Tampa, FL; one son: Ned Thomas Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL; three sisters: Lavern Brown of Sylvester, GA, Lillie Dean Brown, and Emmae Pledger both of Tifton, Ga two brothers: Jimmy L. Brown and Jackie Brown of Ty-Ty, GA; one sister-in-law: Barbara Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
