Obituary For Ivey Thomas Burrows "Bolo"

The Burrows family is sad to announce the passing of a loved one.

Ivey Thomas (Bolo) Burrow was born in Sylvester, GA on April 8, 1962. He was the third oldest of five children. He was born to Emmitt Burrow Jr. and the late Eloise Hill Burrow.

During the early years of his life, he received his formal education in the Worth County School System.

Having professed his faith and belief in Christ at an early age, he united with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Shingler, Georgia.

Over the years Thomas worked at Worth Textile, Shaw Industries, Target and COI in Tifton, Georgia until he became disabled. He was well known in Worth County and was affectionately known as Bolo.

Our loved one’s life came to an abrupt end on Thursday, June 13, 2019. Preceding him in death was two brothers: Donald Lee Burrow and Anthony Wayne Burrow; one brother-in-law: Roger McGriff.

He will be forever missed by those who loved and cherished his life. He leaves behind to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife: Pebble Smith Burrow of 23 years; four children: Keith (Monica) Burrow and Eric Burrows from his marriage, Travis (Uriah) Douglas and Shabreka Douglas of Albany, GA from a prior relationship; two grandchildren: Trinity Douglas and Ari Grace Smith; two sisters: Deloris (Charlie) Chambers and Gladys Henry of Sylvester, Ga; five brothers: James (Phyllis) Burrow of Acworth, GA, Calvin (Shirley) Robinson, Emmit (Mary Helen) Roddy of Sylvester, GA and Freddie (Baye) Williams of Lake Wells, FL; Six sister-in-laws: Arletha (Lisa) Burrow of Stockbridge, GA, Linda Jackson, Betty Hope, Donnell Smith, Eva Ruth Smith, Renell Jackson of Sylvester, GA; brothers-in-law: Joe N. Smith, Wayne McGriff, Robert McGriff, James L Smith and Johnny Mack Smith all of Sylvester, GA and Elzie Smith Jr. of Clearwater, FL; five aunts: Shirley (Henry) Lewis, Johnnie Mae Hill, Mary Ann Hill of Sylvester, GA, Mrs. Susie Perry of Orlando, FL; seven uncles: Calvin (Nona) Hill, Bobby (April) Hill of Albany, GA, Robert (Carolyn) Hill, Melvin Hill, Raymond Hill and Lawrence Hill of Sylvester, GA; two special friends: Tony Bennett of Baltimore, MD and Latasha Champs of Fitzgerald, GA; Like a daughter: Jakelya Hope of Sylvester, Ga, A special friend, Ladonna Barge and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    I wish we were closer. I was the oldest and the only girl. Growing up it was always my daddy my daddy, at one point I was daddy's girl then daddy's big girl. Wish I could have had more time to make this better between us.

    I am very sorry to hear about the death of your loved one. Death is never easy, in fact at 1 Corinthians 15:26 death is described as our “enemy.” Yet the bible does offer hope at Revelation 21:4, ‘he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more. The former things have passed away.’
