Obituary For Elizabeth "Betty" Roberson

The Roberson Family is sad to announce the passing of a loved one.

And so it begins…

Ms. Elizabeth Roberson, or as she was affectionately known to family and friends, as“Betty” was born to the late W.B. and Equilla Roberson on March 19, 1960 in the Friendly City of Tifton, Georgia. This is where Betty, would be educated in the Tift County Public School System during 1970’s, she would go on to further her education by attending the Rainer School Of Nursing graduating with a degree in Nursing in the l980’s. Betty worked in her designated and devoted field with the Tift General Hospital for 15 years before leaving and matriculating to Irwin County Hospital, where she remained until her early demise on November 18, 2020. Betty lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as: chatting with family, reading, watching The Hallmark Movie Channel, cooking and listening to Gerald Levert. It was “NO” secret, she was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. Quite often you would find her dressed in her Georgia Bulldogs attire. She would plan her schedule so that she would be available to watch the games. She was one of Georgia Bulldogs' greatest fans. Betty was deeply loved and she brought immense joy to those around her; with her smile and big grin. She will be missed, loved and forever remembered, in our lives.

In the end…

Betty quietly and discretely departed this world and gained her wings on November 18, 2020 at her home. She was preceded in death by her father, W.B. Roberson, her mother, Equilla B. Roberson, her brothers, John Thomas Roberson, Charles Roberson, Theodore Roberson and sisters, Clara B. Webb and Lenora Roberson.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Ashley Ewings of Tifton, Georgia and Astin Roberson of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. She also leaves behind to mourn and celebrate her life six brothers: Noah Walker of Tampa, Florida; Wilbert Roberson of Hartford, Connecticut; William Roberson and Robert Roberson of Atlanta, Georgia; Danny (Cecilia) Roberson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jimmy (Janelle) Roberson of Ottawa, Canada; four sisters: Fannie( Clifford) Lane of Chula, Georgia; Marjorie Ewings of Valdosta, Georgia; Bobbie J. Miller and Annie Belle McCaffrey of Tifton, Georgia; also a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends that truly loved her. She also cherished her two best friends, the late Sharon Nelson and Mary Murrell.

I am still in total shock concerning the passing of Ms. Liz. Her and my mother (the late Sharon Nelson) were INSEPERABLE. I always looked forward to her coming to visit our home. She was full of laughter and was practically like another mother to me. To the Roberson family, you all have my deepest sympathy. It is so hard to lose a parent. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers.

Ms. Liz was the most caring and understanding woman I knew. She was another momma to me and my daughters . She was my mom's best friend and they traveled everywhere. It is still unbelievable to know that she has passed but I know that God doesn't make mistakes. I will always love her and her family and I will always cherish all the memories I have of her in my heart.

We all loved Betty and are so deeply saddened at this tragic loss. Betty was a truly wonderful person and an extraordinary care giver, patient advocate and nurse. She was dedicated to our hospital and spent the last 27 years in service to thousands of patients. She was a teammate, coworker and friend that never failed to give her all. We will miss her beyond measure, our ICH work family will not be the same without her. We are forever grateful for the opportunity to have known and worked with her; she was one of a kind. We will miss her joyful laugh and her smile that lit up from the inside out. Your family will remain in our thoughts and prayers. With deepest respect, admiration and love, Jeanne Blevins, Irwin County Hospital
