Obituary For Bennie M Chever

The Chever and Ransom families are sad to announce the passing of a loved one.

Our majorette, Bennie Mae Chevers was born January 2, 1936 to the late Nellie Williams and George Ransom in Baker County. She was the fifth of eleven children.

Bennie Mae received her education at Isabella School.

Bennie Mae was baptized at an early age and joined St. Paul Baptist Church where she sung in the choir for many years. As the years went on, she joined the Usher Board where she served for many years.

April 1,1984 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Ulysses Chevers. Bennie Mae retired from Worth County School System where she served in the cafeteria. Some of her favorite things to do were: fishing, sitting on the porch and working in her yard.

On the morning of Saturday, February 15, 2020 God allowed Sister Bennie Mae Chevers to join Him as she slept peacefully in the comfort of her home. She was preceded in death by her husband: Ulyesses Chevers; 2 daughters: Linda Ransom and Sylvia Ann Harris; a brother: Franklin Ransom; 3 sisters: Fannie Carter, Pecola Snipes and Tommie Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, celebrate her life and give God all the praise for 84 years her children: Min. Jimmy (Betty) Ransom, Helen Ransom, Carrie Ransom, Emily Ransom (all of Sylvester, Ga), Min. Pernell (Latoya) Ransom (Tifton, GA), Janie (Jimmy) Kitchen (Virginia Beach, VA); one grandson she raised as a son in Sylvester, GA: Tevoris Ransom; sisters: Maple Ransom (Cartersville, GA), Arzola Ransom (Great Neck, NY), Martha Jefferson (Sylvester, GA), Annie Bell Jenkins and Arcola Roberts (Albany, GA), and Algie Lee Maxie (Atlanta, GA); 30 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; a son-in-law: Mr. James Harris (Albany, GA), and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
